These 3 need to be spay/neutered in January 2012

The sign up date for the clinic is Jan. 3rd. I need $105 for these three. However, I can't use any contributions for this unless I know I have a start on the cost of feeding them and supplying litter. I need $250 by the 3rd so that I know I can purchase food/litter for at least 2 weeks and also pay for the spay/neuter.

Here are the three that need to go to the clinic. If you can help, thank you so much & God bless.

This little guy was supposed to go in Dec. But he got a cold and another kitten went in his place.

Please read about my chip in

It's a new month and a new challenge. I have 3 that need to be spay/neutered in January. The cost for these will be $105.00 I also need food & litter plus medicine. Here is where you can read about my new challenge. Thank you so much and God bless.

Price of caring for foster cats/kittens

I know people see me on facebook pushing this blog and/or a chip in. You'll notice the chip in to the right states it is for food, litter, medical for the month of December.

That's right. I have 16 fostering right now and it takes about $250-$275 per month in just food/litter. Add in I've had to give my own personal stock of medicine for a panleuk/giardia outbreak, and you can see I am in a little pickle here.

It use to be fairly easy to get in contributions and I took in as many cats/kittens as I had space for in my home. Even to the point of putting my own cats outside and building them a new place to live so I could care for more rescues.

As the holidays have approached, I know people want to spend money on gifts for their family members and friends. They have traveling to do. But please, during the this holiday season, think just a moment of those less fortunate 4 legged babies that for right now, may be warm & cozy, but may be short on food and toiletries (litter!). Or those who need medicine.

I do chip ins because I want to be open and honest about the contributions I am sent. I want people to see "she has $100 of the $275 she needs". And if you feel like making a contribution through the mail, I have my address to the right also. And yes, if you would like to come and see the foster babies I have, you are more than welcome to come see them. I ask that you please contact me first via email. I'm all about adopting these babies out but I'm not going to let a perfect stranger in my house!

I've even had people 'drive by' my house just to see where I live. Yes, there are those who want to 'see' the place these babies are living. And that's just fine too.

Please, if you can give this holiday season and beyond, it will be most appreciated. Below is a copy of the receipts from just a week and a half's worth of what they require. So you can see I am in desperate need.

Feeding time!

Here is a picture of half the rescues from AC. They love to eat! There is a total of 19 in foster care right now. The food and litter is an enormous expense. If you can help, please see the right side of the page. There is a direct link for a chip in that will cover food/litter/medical cost for these babies. Also need help with networking to find permanent loving homes. Thank you!

And the rest of the babies who are sick or quarantined:

Kitten needs umbilical surgery. Can you help?

This little girl is only 5 wks old and needs umbilical surgery. Dr. Robinson said the hernia is big enough for her intestines to fall into and it needs to be repaired. This little darling was rescued on Halloween day from Gaston AC. Can you help?

UPDATE: She is doing wonderful! This little girl gets her stitches out on the 29th.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this surgery possible!

Halloween 2011 kitties for transport

These cats & kittens are fortunate that they were rescued and have a place to go. All of these are going to different people around the US. As it turns out, only 2 need a little medical attention. The rest are fine. People, please spay/neuter your pets. Only a fraction of animals from animal control get rescued. The rest die.

The Crew, rescued kittens from animal control

All these precious babies are now available for adoption! If you can not give a forever home, any contributions would be greatly appreciated. Items such as paper towels, old towels, toys, bedding, liquid detergent to wash bedding, food (Kit N Kaboodle seems to be the favorite), can food, litter (scoopable) etc. Even a few dollars to purchase items for these and future cats/kittens and for spay/neuter cost would be marvelous! And a HUGE thank you to those who have and continue to contribute. Enjoy the video:

What's next?

Hi everyone! It's been awhile since I last updated. It's been difficult to do anything with all the work being done on my house.

Some may not know that I wasn't supposed to be fostering during the month of October because I was having work done on my home. But emergencies happen and I took in 2 mother's with a total of 8 kittens, 6 teen kittens that were very malnourished, 2 young adults and two other cats I held for a couple of weeks. It's difficult enough caring for this many on top of my own 12 cats and 2 dogs. But having workmen stepping over them all, making sure none stole away in their vans, etc. was very stressful.

I was fortunate enough to find homes for a few of these babies before one of the cats that I took in spread a nasty virus through most of them. Some were able to bypass this virus but I kept them just in case. I am now going to let them be adopted.

Until then, I desperately needs funds to care for the remaining ones I have: the two mothers, 2 kittens, 2 young adults, 5 of the 6 malnourished ones. I also need to get one of the mother's spayed. Y'all that have been reading this blog know her as Turtle.

So I still have 11 cats/kittens that need homes and as mentioned, need the funds to care for them. If you can give even a small amount, it will be appreciated. You can give by using the chip-in below, using the donate button on the right or mailing a check to the address on the right. Thank you!

I will be updating with pictures soon!

Sick kitties

It has been a very stressful week around my house. I have tons of people here daily weatherizing my home. In and out, in and out, up to the attic, down to the basement. On top of that, I've had a very sick kitten to care for.

I thought I could actually take a day for myself over the weekend. But I came home to find a little baby completely clogged up! This hit from nowhere. After antibiotics to stave off anything that she could catch from a weakened immune system, forced pedialyte, sub q fluids and lots of nutri-cal, she finally started drinking a little water and eating a little can food on her own. She's still weak and sleeps a lot. Her mom, Turtle, has been by her side and that does make her feel better. But today, Turtle started throwing up and feels slightly warm. So I've had to separate them in case Turtle caught the virus from the kitten. I don't want Turtle passing it back to the kitten. Or any of the other 3 kittens that Turtle allows to nurse from her.

I am on high alert in the event this 'bug' spreads. I pray that it doesn't. I am leaving in a week for a mini vacation. My plans can't be changed. I would feel horrible and not enjoy a minute of being gone if I left with anyone sick or potentially sick.

So right now, I'm feeding everyone lots of nutritious foods including chicken and fish. Tonight they got mac & cheese mixed with people tuna! I am already low on food & litter. So I'm asking for any help that can be given. I got lucky that the kitten to get this bug was a little fatty. So her not eating solid food for two days only made her a bit thinner. I have 5 others who were thin when I rescued them (that's why they were going to be PTS, because they were 'thin').

Sneezes can spread a virus very quickly. Having holding cages will not prevent this from spreading unless the cages are far apart or in different areas. Which is why I only use them for taming the feral or if a cat doesn't like other cats/kittens. I have everyone spread out, in different rooms. So say a prayer for these babies. And if you can help me make sure over the next few weeks that they get highly nutritious food (and a way for them to get rid of their food 'litter', lol), it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Need contributions for Oct. food, litter & medical cost

Thank you everyone who chipped in so 7 kitties can be spayed/neutered next week. We now need contributions for the month to cover food, litter and medical cost for the remaining 14 cats & kittens. Drop off contributions are also welcomed as are gift cards (prefer Wal Mart because they have the better prices). Food used is Kit n' Kaboodle, kitten dry food, canned food (we really need this!). If you have a few extra dollars, we would love to have it! We accept Paypal but will also accept mailed contributions (and we don't loose fee money for this) and the address is to the right. Thank you so much in advance and the kitties really appreciate it too!

Adult calico female needs a loving home

Hi everyone, this is Turtle. She is approx. 1 1/2 yrs old and has finished nursing her kittens. She was rescued from AC with her kittens. She is very loving and highly intelligent. She knows how to stand on her hind legs and use her paws to open doors. She also knows how to use the pull handles on doors. She's independent and would make a great addition to your family. If interested, please contact me via email.

All cats and kittens are free. Some will have been spayed/neutered, have shots, etc. However, contributions of any size would be appreciated, but not required. We could use money or gift cards (prefer Wal-Mart) to purchase food, litter, medications, etc., sheets, towels, blankets, toys.

Handsome black and white male kitten needs home

This young man is approx. 6-8 months old. He's a bit shy but once you cuddle him in your arms & pet him, he's like butter in your hands. Scheduled to be neutered on Oct. 11th. Gets along well with other cats/kittens, litter box trained, has rabies cert. and would make a wonderful addition to your family. It's obvious he's so grateful for being rescued. Use the contact email if you would love to give him a forever home.

Needs a loving forever home

This very loving little girl is just one big purr box! Her name is Soda Pop and she's approx. 6-8 months old. She's very friendly, loves to be held (essentially a lap cat), is litter box trained, healthy appetite and is ready for her forever home! She is scheduled to be spayed on Oct. 11th. If you are interested in adding her to your family, please contact me.

10-1-2011 Found forever home!!!

This little boy is so frisky! He's about 7-8 wks old, litter box trained, eating hard & wet food, and needs a loving forever home. Because Halloween is around the corner, potential adopters will be carefully screened. Contact me if you are interested in adding this wonderful little boy to your family.

Special Thanks to everyone!

I would like to thank the many who have contributed not only to help spay/neuter 7 cats in Oct., but to those who have sent contributions to purchase food & litter and to those who have dropped off food, litter, towels, toys, bedding and more! These people make it happen so that I am able to put a roof over these babies and give them love until they go to their forever home.

Some do not want to be mentioned (silent angels), but the following angels need a shout out:

Lori & Mike C.
Jo Ann V.
Donna T.
Peggy W.
Haley M.
Cheryl
Mary C.
Marla B.

And those who have adopted and brought food for a contribution, thank you so much!

Jo Ann's babies

The kitty with the hurt foot was used in a vet tech program at Gaston College in NC. Somewhere from there to the actual Vet office, it's foot was smashed and deemed un-adoptable. She is very loving and very happy now. All three cats in this video need a forever home. Soda pop would be perfect for an elderly person or someone who is home bound. She's a lap cat. The female with white on her has been spayed and is ready for her forever home too!

Need help with spay/neuter clinic

Hello everyone.  The sign up date for the next spay/neuter clinic is Sept. 28th.  I have 7 boys and girls who need to be signed up.  That's 7x$33= $231.00   They will be spayed/neutered on Oct. 11th.  I have $0 right now for this.

At the moment, 2 of the 7 are in heat.  If you have ever had a cat or heard a cat in heat, you know I'm in misery right now!  lol  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that none of the other girls go into heat before then.  My ears can't take much more.

Please share this blog with all animal lovers you know.  Even a $1 contribution will help.  Thank you everyone!

Medical Treatment

Today (9-16-11) all the cats/kittens were dewormed.  That's 20 altogether.  All but the last 6 are very healthy and need forever homes.  Again, we are not a non-profit or any 'for profit' group.  We are just a couple of ladies who wish to save the cats and kittens that are about to be killed via gas at NC animal shelters.  I house and give the love these little babies need until they find their forever home.  The other couple ladies do their best to contribute for the finances and try to find others who will contribute so we can continue to feed, spay/neuter & give medical attention to those we save.  The more contributions we receive, the more lives we can save.

If we can get 50 people to contribute $5 a month, that is $250.  We can spay/neuter and give rabies shots to at least 4 animals per month and also feed them.  But we also need people who are willing to foster cats & kittens or who can get the word out about these little fur babies to help find them forever homes.  Any way you can help is greatly appreciated!

As for the last 6 kittens that you see in the video below, the grey/white baby received fluids via IV today.  The other 5 are not unhealthy, but on the skinny side and need lots of nutritious food and love.  Then they will be ready to go to their forever home!

Please bookmark this blog and check back often for more pictures and videos of all these beautiful babies.  You can also subscribe thru the feed, atom.

Tossed away kitty

I have named this little girl Soda Pop.  As with all torti's, she has a temper, is very bossy, very stubborn and very loving!  She is just a baby doll.  Please share so she can get the forever home she deserves.

Help save cats & kittens from NC animal shelters

I wanted to get a post up to let others know this blog is just being born.  It's being born out of love for our four legged animals.  It's being born out of love for God's creatures.  If you too have a soft spot in your heart for cats, please bookmark this page and our youtube page.  Enjoy the videos that are posted.  They are all of rescued cats & kittens.  Remember that every cat or kitten you see in these videos need a "forever" home.

If you can not give another pet a loving home, please consider donating.  ALL money goes toward cat food, kitten food, litter & medical bills.

I do not profit from fostering.  I foster because I love all animals.  I'm partial to cats & kittens.  I am on disability and have a large home.  I can put a roof over these babies heads and spend lots of quality time with them.  But I do not have the funds to care for them on my own.  And I want to take this time to thank those who have already donated or chipped in to our previous rescues and the current rescues.  Without your support, saving these lives would not be possible.
